Luke 7:1-10

1.   Read vs. 1-2. Consider the position of the centurion stationed in a politically and religiously sensitive area. What shows that he mastered relationships with people in difficult situations? How do you think he was so successful? Why are these victories so important to man’s life?

2. Read vs. 6-7a. What does this passage tell us about the centurion’s attitude towards Jesus? What determines one’s attitude towards Jesus being either good or bad? What does the centurion’s example teach us about the right attitude for us to take in approaching his throne of grace?

3. Read v.7b. What does the centurion’s simple request suggest to us about the kind of faith he had in Jesus?

4. Read v. 8. What does this verse reveal to us about the kind of discipline  he underwent? How did this discipline train him to understand the way Jesus works?

5. Read v. 9. Why do you think Jesus turned to the crowd and said what he said?

6. Read v. 10. Compare this passage with Matthew 8:13. What does this miracle teach us about the power of Jesus?
