ABRAM WENT DOWN TO EGYPT
Genesis 12:10-13:4
Key Verse: 12:10
“Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a while because the famine was severe.”
Read V10. Why did Abram go to Egypt? Compare his motives in going to Egypt with his motives in going to Canaan.
Read V11-16. What plan did he make before entering Egypt? Why did he make such a plan? Did the plan work out well? Compare Abram’s life in Egypt and his life in Canaan. Why didn’t he build an altar in Egypt?
Read V17-20. How did God protect Abram’s family? Why did Pharaoh rebuke him and send him away? What can we learn here about God? About the weaknesses in man’s faith? When difficulties come to you, do you make your own plan or hold on to God’s promise?
Read V13:1-4. How did Abram show his repentance? What can you learn here about God’s faithfulness?
