Isaiah 8:19-9:7

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father Prince of Peace.”

1. Read 8:19-22. Where did people seek guidance and help? (19) Where should they have sought counsel? (20a) What was the condition of the people without God’s word? (20b-22)

2. Read 9:1-2. What is the good news for those who are in distress and darkness? To what event do these verses look forward? (Mt 4:14-25)
