GOD FORMS MAN

Genesis 2:1-25

Key Verse 2:7

the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

Read verses 4-7. How was man formed? Where did his life come from?

Read verses 8-15. Where was man put to live? Who put him there? What do the following phrases show about God?

“all kinds of trees grow out of the ground” (9a)

“pleasing to the eye and good for food” (9b)

“A river watering the garden flowed from Eden; from there it was separated into four headwaters” (10)

“The gold of that land is good; aromatic resin and onyx are also there.” (11)

“the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil” (9c)

“to work it and take care of it” (15)

Read verses 16-17.

Why do you think God gave this command?

What does the command teach about freedom?

What does the command teach about life and death?

How was this command God’s provision for man?

Read verses 18-25.

What did God say about man’s situation?

What do the words “suitable helper” teach about the relationship between: a man and wife and God?

What does the man’s confession in v. 23 show about God’s provision?

What is the significance of the two being united and becoming “one”?

Why is it significant that they felt no shame?
